Palumpa

4:30pm Wednesday 30 April 2026

The community is experiencing localised flooding and is currently isolated, with no road access.

Palumpa was fully evacuated to Darwin, where residents are accommodated at Marrara Indoor Stadium.

Welfare support

Residents from Palumpa are being supported by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Welfare Group. Evacuation temporary accommodation has now been established in Batchelor, providing safer, more sustainable living arrangements as flood recovery continues.

Financial assistance will be provided to eligible residents from the evacuation temporary accommodation, administered by DCF.

School

Nganmarriyanga School will remain closed until the community is repatriated.

Students from Nganmarriyanga School are attending pop-up schools in Darwin and Palmerston.
