The introduction of exotic animal, plant and aquatic pests or diseases could cause significant impact to the environment and industry.
Biosecurity protects the Northern Territory (NT) from serious damage by pests, diseases and weeds.
Important industries in the NT such as cattle, seafood, horticulture and tourism are all vulnerable to biosecurity threats.

Prepare your business
You need to be aware of how an emergency could effect the survival of your business.
A good emergency plan will cover both a business continuity plan and a risk assessment. For information on how to prepare your business for an emergency go to the Australian Department of Business website.
Pastoral, horticultural and agricultural companies, also need to be aware of how a biosecurity incursion or biosecurity outbreak could affect the survival of their business.
Persons conducting a business or undertaking in the NT must ensure that an emergency plan is prepared for the workplace, including for workers who may work at multiple workplaces. Visit NT Worksafe for information on business emergency plans.
