Septic tanks and other on-site wastewater systems often don't work properly during flooding or when the soil is very wet.

Flooding of an on-site wastewater system may lead to a back-up of sewage in the home.

On-site wastewater systems may need to be pumped out and the soil and surrounding areas will need time to dry out.
