Welfare Recovery Centre
A Welfare Recovery Centre is now open at Marrara Indoor Stadium located at 10 Abala Road, Marrara to provide a single access point for practical support, information, and referrals.
The Centre is open from 8:30am – 4pm daily until Wednesday 3 December.
You can access a range of support through the Centre, including:
- psycho-social and wellbeing support
- connect people with emergency relief services for items such as food and essential supplies
- food and water safety information
- support for culturally diverse communities, including help navigating services and linking with insurance
- information about available financial support including processing applications for eligible people
- food vouchers for impacted households needing immediate assistance
- representatives from Power and Water Corporation, Department of Housing, Mission Australia, Services Australia, local councils and community partners.
Additional Pop-up Welfare Recovery Centres
From Thursday 27 November, pop up WRCs will operate from Casuarina, Coolalinga, Darwin CBD and Litchfield.

Tuesday 2 December from 2pm – 7pm - Litchfield area – Berry Springs Primary School, 1150 Cox Peninsula Rd, Berry Springs
Saturday 29 November from 2pm – 6pm
Impacted households will need to provide:
- copy of your latest electricity bill
- photo ID (must match name on electricity bill).

All government school are open.
Non-government schools update
The following non-government schools remain closed:
- Tiwi College, Melville Island - No estimated time for reopening at this stage.
Early childhood education and care services
The following remain closed:
- Dragonfly Play & Learn.
- Murrupurtiyanuwu Catholic Primary School Preschool.
Roads

Waste management
- The temporary waste management site at Hidden Valley will stay open to the public until 6pm Sunday 7 December 2025.
- Green waste can be dropped off at the Hidden Valley Raceway carpark (171 Hidden Valley Road) between 7am-6pm.
- The site is open to residents of any local government area.
- No domestic/household waste will be accepted.
- Access is by vehicle only. Please take care and comply with all traffic management and signage in place.
- The site will continue to be open for commercial green waste until 6pm 19 December 2025.
- Residents are reminded that residential green waste left on verges will not be collected by local council.
Power outages
Power and Water crews have restored power to 19,964 customers.
Around 39 households in the Darwin region remain without power, and crews are continuing to reduce that number.
We understand that this is frustrating for those without power, but the crews are working around the clock to get everyone reconnected as soon as they can.

The Jacana Energy contact centre will be open from 8:30am – 4:00pm Saturday and Sunday to confirm customers’ accounts only. Please call 1800 522 262 for this service.
Parks and Reserves
Many parks and reserves remain closed due to debris and high-water levels. Casuarina Coastal Reserve was highly impacted in terms of fallen trees.
Rapid assessments have now been undertaken on all parks and reserves, with priority works identified focusing on public safety.

Howard Springs Nature Park

Howard Springs Hunting Reserve
- Open - Access not yet assessed, proceed with care
George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens
- Closed while staff carry out essential safety assessments across the site.
- Eva’s Café and the Café carpark is now open.
Litchfield National Park
- Upper Cascades, including the designated swimming area at Curtain Falls is open
- Buley Rockhole is open for swimming and day use
- Florence Falls is open for swimming
- All other areas closed
Territory Wildlife Park
- Reopening 9am Friday 28 November
