Update 1: Tropical Cyclone Fina
At 10am on 19 November 2025, the Northern Territory moved to an active response for Tropical Cyclone Fina. The Territory Controller has activated the Emergency Operations Centre to coordinate preparedness and response activities.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a cyclone watch for Cape Don to Milingimbi, including:
- Tiwi Islands
- Minjilang
- Warruwi
- Maningrida
- Gunbalanya
- Milikapiti
- Pirlangimpi
- Wurrumiyanga
People in these areas should begin preparing now. Over the coming days, the cyclone may intensify and track towards Darwin.
Now is the time to be prepared, not alarmed.
Make sure your house is ready, know where you will shelter if you need to, and make sure you have an emergency kit with enough food and water for everyone in your house for three days.
Severe weather can happen at any time, and we need to be ready for that.
Check on your neighbours, particularly any elderly or vulnerable people who may not be aware of the developing situation.
