The fire on Darwin River Road between Cox Peninsular Road and Leonino Road has now been contained. Fire is still burning within the fire ground area and landowners are advised to continue to monitor the situation. Bushfires NT crews are working on road verges alongside the Darwin River Road. For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions. It is expected that visibility will be affected intermittently until 1900 hrs (7:00pm). There will be no further updates unless the situation changes.

Bushfires NT crews are working to control a wildfire burning on Darwin River Road between Cox Peninsular Road and Leonino Road. A bushfire is going under very high to extreme weather conditions. The Chief Fire Control Officer, Bushfires NT and the Acting Executive Director, NT Fire and Rescue Service have declared a 24 HOUR FIRE BAN PERIOD for Wednesday 04 July 2018 for the following areas. DARWIN AND ADELAIDE RIVER FIRE WEATHER FORECAST AREA. The Fire Ban is declared for a 24 hour period commencing at 0000 hours on Wednesday 04 July 2018. No person shall light a fire or cause a fire to be lit in the open in the portion of the Northern Territory within the fire ban areas. This includes the DARWIN, BATCHELOR and ADELAIDE RIVER EMERGENCY RESPONSE AREAS and the LITCHFIELD MUNICIPALITY and COOMALIE SHIRE. The Fire Ban is valid from midnight to midnight.
