Financial assistance
Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA)
Financial assistance will be made available through the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) to repair damaged roads and bridges and help communities affected by Tropical Cyclone Grant.
Under the jointly funded Commonwealth and Northern Territory Government NDRRA assistance is available to:
- Individuals and families to alleviate personal hardship or distress arising as a direct result of a natural disaster
- Counter disaster operations for the clean-up and protection of communities and public assets
- Assist restoration of essential public assets and to reopen roads and bridges damaged by flooding
Assistance for individuals and families
The Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) are jointly funded by the Commonwealth and Northern Territory Governments to help communities recover from disasters.
Individuals may receive government assistance to help alleviate personal hardship or distress as a direct result of a natural disaster depending on their circumstances.
Assistance measures include financial assistance, temporary accommodation, replacement of household and personal goods and essential repairs to property.
Immediate Relief Payments
Financial assistance up to $1,135 per family (subject to verification) is available to aid families and individuals recover from the disaster. This payment is not means tested.
Temporary accommodation
Accommodation assistance is available up to $860 per family dependent on available accommodation options and other eligibility criteria including means testing.
Household and Personal Items
Replacement of household and personal items is available up to $6 535 dependent on the type of goods lost or destroyed in the disaster and other eligibility criteria including means testing.
Essential Repairs
Essential repairs to owner/occupiers is available up to $12 485 subject to eligibility criteria including means testing.
